Children’s Heart Society programs are designed to support heart kids and their families at every stage of the journey. From comforting in-hospital support to connection-building programs for teens, tweens, and parents, each initiative creates spaces where families feel understood, supported, and never alone. Through parent-to-parent referrals and dedicated moms’ and dads’ nights, CHS fosters meaningful connections that strengthen families and build a compassionate heart community.
Children's Heart Society provides comfort bags full of information for parents and special items for a child heading into heart surgery or in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We bring fun into the hospital for children having to stay over major holidays by bringing in special holiday bags filled with goodies and treats to brighten young patients. We also bring big bright red heart balloons into the hospital for the cardiac kids.
We provide support to families in need as well as donations to the Child Life Program for the Cardiac ward in the forms of gift cards, coffee pods for the parents pantry, equipment and toys for use by children and families staying in the hospital.
Social events are specifically planned to allow our heart parents to connect in a relaxed atmosphere.

We strive to include our tweens and teens, which is why we host events tailored just for them! We understand the importance of staying connected with other heart kids as they grow.

We connect parents who are experiencing similiar circumstances together or parents that have experience with a specific heart condition to a family that is just beginning their heart journey. When a child is diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, the parents are required to come to terms with this and learn how to care for their child's new special needs. Parents often require additional support. Our referral program provides these families with a safe outlet to share their concerns, frustrations and feelings with someone who has experienced these specific circumstances. This network establishes life long bonds that continue to grow with the child and family.
We host events that bring heart families together. These are special times that the society as a whole gets together. May Camp-out, Jasper Get-Away, Fall Picnic, and the Christmas Party are examples of events that bring families together from across the province where they are able to easily interact. Strong relationships are developed between families who understand the unique experiences of raising a child with special heart needs.
